Tradition and Experience

For more than 80 years, our company has specialized in the design and manufacture of equipment for the physical testing and quality control of materials.

Founded in 1939 by Jaume Bot i Arenas, the company initially focused on the textile industry. During the 1950s, we expanded our expertise by developing our first testing equipment for the paper industry. In the 1960s, our product range grew further to include solutions for the leather and tanning, rubber, plastics, and metals industries, responding to the increasing demand for reliable quality control.

Our close collaboration with manufacturers and testing laboratories has always driven our innovation. Throughout the 1970s and 1980s, we developed a broad portfolio of customized testing instruments tailored to specific industrial requirements. During the same period, we also introduced a dedicated range of fire testing equipment to meet the growing safety regulations for public buildings and facilities.

The digital revolution of the 1990s marked another major milestone, enabling the integration of computerized data acquisition and analysis into our testing systems. Since then, we have continued to incorporate the latest technologies, delivering accurate, reliable, and innovative solutions that meet the evolving needs of industry and research laboratories worldwide.

As a key product, the Universal Testing Machine for determining tensile strength, compressive strength, flexural strength, etc., is the common denominator for all materials. Evolving with technology and the times, JBA, now in its third generation since its foundation, covers everything from small machines for determining adhesion or friction to horizontal Test benches for Testing ropes, slings, etc. It also offers an extensive range of equipment for performing standardized Tests, such as abrasion, impact, porosity, hardness, thickness, flexural strength, etc.
