Tradition and Experience

For more than 80 years our company has specialized in the manufacture of equipment for physical testing and control of materials.

Founded in 1939 by Jaume Bot i Arenas in the textile industry, the first devices for the paper industry were manufactured in the 1950s, followed in the 1960s by those for the leather and tanning, elastomer, plastic, and metal industries, as a result of the industry’s quality control requirements.

Our direct contact with the problems faced by the industry led us in the 1970s and 1980s to manufacture a wide range of specific devices according to specific needs, as well as to develop a new line for fire reaction testing in order to comply with new regulations on safety in public facilities and buildings. The advent of information technology in the 1990s opened up the possibility of digital data acquisition, a technology that continues to evolve today.

Our teams

As a key product, the Universal Testing Machine for determining tensile strength, compressive strength, flexural strength, etc., is the common denominator for all materials. Evolving with technology and the times, JBA, now in its third generation since its foundation, covers everything from small machines for determining adhesion or friction to horizontal test benches for testing ropes, slings, etc. It also offers an extensive range of equipment for performing standardized tests, such as abrasion, impact, porosity, hardness, thickness, flexural strength, etc.
